Title: NetSky virus not detected
Post by: spaniard on March 10, 2004, 06:31:52 PM
When I open an infected e-mail in my web mail account (intentionally to try the efficiency af Avast antivirus) it is not detected. The message has an attaches file (XXXXX.pif) and when I open it Avast doesn't say anything so I get infected. ¿How can I avoid this?

Hi,

does avast's mainscanner detect anything in the pif-file ? you saved it to your disk, or just opened it in the Browser ?

Please send the .PIF-file not detected by avast
to
virus (at) asw (dot) cz
 ;)

The file is detected by the antivirus if I try to save it but not if I open it from the webmail. Windows gives me an advise that it is a dangerous file but and if I open it, it executes the virus.

avast! cannot scan the e-mails you are opening from a web interface... or am I misunderstanding something?
It shouldn't let you really execute it, however.
