Title: Mail server invalid certificate fix for Avast One FREE version in Thunderbird
Post by: Chris777 on August 04, 2022, 07:50:00 AM
Hi there.

I cannot follow the fix for Thunderbird as I cannot enter into "geek" territory on the free version of Avast - no menu/settings options.

Is there a possible download site on Avast where I can export/copy the relevant security certificate to install into Thunderbird?

I am with TPG in Australia as my provider and it seems Thunderbird doesn't like their certificates - so importing mail and sending certificates are made "exemptions", and Thunderbird won't save my passwords for TPG. So far it works at least, but if I try to tick "let password manager save your passwords" TB does not accept the password.

I wanted to try and add a certificate for Avast, hoping it might help as there are no Avast certificates saved in Thunderbird - but I see Avast links in the advanced setup where I tried - without success - other tips like lowering the SSL certificate version for TPG.

I am no techie so I don't know if the certificate must come from the PC in question - ie if it is generated with some info from the installed Avast program, or if it is generic and obtainable from Avast...

Will be grateful for getting "edumacated" by you guys...
