Title: Cancel AVAST cleanup
Post by: joephil42 on September 06, 2022, 04:43:37 PM
I mistakenly thought I needed to uninstall (and re-install) Avast, so ran the AVAST REMOVE utility, but did not complete the procedure.
Now when I boot, it goes into Safe Mode and after rebooting again, I have to choose between Win10 and an Avast option. How can I prevent the booting into Safe Mode and being forced to choose ?

Open up a run command (Windows key and R) and type the following

When MSConfig opens, look at the BOOT tab:

You'll find the Avast option listed in the first position.
Highlight it and select remove. Then OK and reboot

I found the second boot option - just as you described, and was able to delete it. I expect the problem is now solved. THANK YOU.

Happy to help. :)
Just remember that If you didn't allow avastclear to complete, you still haven't fully removed Avast if that was your intention.
If you need help removing Avast, maybe this will help.

Uninstall Avast
Download the Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility
For Windows XP and Vista get the Avast Removal tool from here   https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/Uninstall-Antivirus/
Uninstall Avast via the control panel and follow the directions.
Run the Uninstall Utility and accept the reboot to safe mode
Once complete reboot your system.

Thank you again. Originally I wanted to uninstall AVAST, but came to realise I did not need to - but that was after I had activated the REMOVE AVAST tool. My problem is now solved.
