Title: Avast indeed powers off particular computers.
Post by: Georgino on September 29, 2022, 05:38:20 AM
I've had to chase down this issue on several client PCs, and personal brand new laptops.

I used to use this to top off every job. Just slap a copy of Avast on! Never thought I would be making this post.

It seems during specific times (doesn't have to be a scan, or even active) the computer will power off. No BSOD,
no nothing. After removing Avast and doing severe load testing without, the issue absolutely disappears.  It's
pretty simple to diagnose these days, but for the last year it certainly has eaten up quite a bit of my time assuming
it's something physical.  Again this is testing on several different computers, and mining rigs.

It literally can't be anything else. I figured this is one that needs to be tested pretty hard to be recreated and isolated.
Doesn't happen on all computers, however it doesn't seem to care if it's a desktop rig or a laptop rig.

This isn't an ongoing problem for me, nor do I need help. I just figured someone on that end would like to know along
with folks I *KNOW* are experiencing the same thing.

Thank you.

For the last couple of weeks I've been seeing this same powering off issue and reboot loops on several Windows 10 systems that don't even have Avast installed, it started happening after one of the recent Windows updates.

Thats not to say your issue isn't Avast related, though there could possibly be another cause.
