Title: Firewall entry OK?
Post by: hwriedt on October 05, 2022, 12:19:11 AM
Dear All:
I use Avast One with Windows 10. By checking the Firewall/History/Last Day settings I came across this entry:
Host process for Windows services
Time stamp
UDP (5353)  --/-->  ff02:fb
Path: C:/windows/system32/svchost.exe
Remote address ff02::fb
Remote Port   5353
Direction out
Local address fe80:c042:713:fcde:844c
There are around 30 different entries in this section.
Is that OK?
Thank you for your comments.
Best wishes
Henning

Hi Henning!

Thank you for the post.

Can you please check what profile is selected in Avast One Firewall? The entry you posted looks like incoming multicast traffic that was blocked by Untrusted mode. That is completely OK, you don't have to worry. 30 different entries mean that there were 30 different attempts to reach your PC.

Here is wikipedia article describing multicast traffic, if you want to know more:

Best regards,
HK
