Title: Can Avast Free change to passive mode by itself

My sister has Avast Free installed. She is getting a popup from Avast Free stating that she has one day left before Avast Free changes protection to passive mode only and stating her computer will be unprotected. Is this correct - does Avast Free change to passive mode on its own after a certain period of time?
I also installed Avast Free on my computer at the same time I installed it on her computer and I have not seen this popup on my PC.

I've never heard of that. Is she keeping her Avast Free up to date? (program version and virus definitions)

Maybe she has more than one AV installed and Avast wants to disable its real-time protection.
