Title: Boot-Time scan issues
Post by: rob80113 on December 17, 2022, 03:33:39 PM
For a month now, I have been unable to do the Boot-Time scan.  When I load up the definitions and reboot my laptop with the scan enabled, I get a blank screen with the words 'Avast AntiVirus Loading.'  Nothing happens after a while so I have to reboot it in order for Windows to reload.  Prior to this, I would have no problems with this scan.

I have the latest version of the Avast Premium Security program.  I have a laptop that is using the latest version of Windows 10.

Do you have any ideas as to how I might fix this?

I believe there have been issues like this for some users
due to the use by Avast of the Windows Recovery Environment
with Boot-time scans.

I use AVG so can't speak definitively about options in Avast,
but you might try looking in the advanced settings in the
GEEK:AREA for an option to disable that feature.

In AVG it is

"Boot-Tine Scan: Run in Windows Recovery Environment (restart needed)"

Uncheck it to turn that feature off.
