Title: How often do you run a virus scan and what kind(s)?
Post by: Dinobot2 on January 02, 2023, 12:01:53 AM
Just curious as to how often everyone scans their computer and in what manners. Thought this could be a fun/interesting discussion and see what the variety of answers are like.

I currently Scan twice a week. Once on Monday for a Full Virus Scan including my external HDD, and once on Friday where I just scan my C-drive. Both run at 4 am if you're curious about specifics.

With an on access antivirus scanner, on-demand scans are much depreciated.

If a file is sitting dormant what is the benefit of an on-demand scan, should it become active then the on-access scanner scans it.

I rarely run any on-demand scan/s outside of queries in the forums.

On Demand Access scans everything, but I regularly scan files and folders manually after downloading. And program folders after installation of software.

I'm sure On Demand Access would have already caught it if there was something in them, but I do it all the same.

Well the Web Shield scans web content and any executable should be scanned on creation (just downloaded).

So newly created, modified or opened files should be scanned.

I think you meant 'on access scanner' and not on demand as in the highlighted part of the quoted text.

Correct. I meant on access. Thanks.
