Title: Web Shield alert on mac
Post by: andrew.purpura on February 15, 2023, 11:34:45 PM
Hello,

I can repeatedly getting a message on web shield and it pops up about every 5 minutes. It's starting to make system unusable it pops up so much. I'm not sure if it's a real threat or if something is on my mac?

Message on web shield:
Multiple web threats secured. We've blocked a threat URL:Phishing on https://spacehop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/B660-vs-Z690.jpeg from being downloaded.

Hello,
such repeated reports are usually popping up because browsers often remember your browsing history and attempt to access such pages in some cases. Typically this happens when you create a new tab, or type something into a search bar. The browser likes to pre-load stuff it thinks you will need, and this means that sometimes a web page that has been accessed long time ago can be re-loaded by the browser again and again.
While Avast Web Shield protects you, and you should be safe, the popups are very annoying; but there is no good solution for this on our part. It is typically enough to clear your browser's caches and/or history, so that the browser forgets the page and stops loading it.
Kind regards,

Hi there Ondrej,

I work for https://spacehop.com/ (https://spacehop.com/) and I am 100% certain that my site is not a threat, there is no malware on the site or the server, etc. Why is Avast flagging one of my URL's as a Phishing attempt for Andrew??? (thanks btw for visiting the site, Andrew!).

I'm really confused here... can you please advise?

Thanks,
Alan
