Title: False positive. Please Help
Post by: paladinmette on February 20, 2023, 11:58:25 AM
Hello, we are developer of Network Signal Guru app, we have been at google play since 2015(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qtrun.QuickTest). Recently some users reported that this app is labeled as virus by Avast.

I have contacted google and updated the software. they responded that no virus is found. I have also scanned our app with virustotal.com and no virus found as well(https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/9e60dcbea0fa65cb1bcd998589df880aa7b3d7909b8fb5c33a4aeda5da116d56).

It is false positive. We didn't do anything with our app.

meanwhile we have sent the related info through https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php#pc

Please resolve it as soon as possible. Thanks

You should get a response in a day or two.

Whilst there are some in the forums who can help in why there might have been a detection, e.g. checking other security related sites.  However, as far as android apps go this is more difficult as those sites are generally analysing physical web sites rather than apps.

That said if you look at the Relations tab in the VT results there are some considered a detection 1/88 (Avast Mobile in the original detection tab), however the Avast for Windows product doesn't detect this in the main VT results detection tab.
