What does "other source" mean on the windows update previous update screen, its just that my brother was using media player and he said it suddenly came up with an installation bar which then proceeded to restart the computer when I checked system restore had made a checkpoint called windows media player 10 and software distribution service yet under previous software installs there was nothing new and the installation had failed.  Further more when I opened Windows Media Player 10 again it had a configuration screen which normally only comes up when you have first loaded the media player, can anyone shed some light on this please?

ps my firewall has logged WMC0000.tmp has using svchost?

My brother said that my firewall was saying high risk and that the installation halted while the warning box was on screen he says he pressed block as he was worried and that may explain why the installation failed, but why did it try to install if I had notify me of windows updates and what is this "other source" it is listed as????

Mine is 11.0.5721.5145 so obviously yours is not updated.  :)
