Title: VRDB
Post by: redd on March 17, 2004, 09:53:15 PM
Couple of questions for a new user.

Installed Avast 4.1 Home Edition

VRDB, how necessary? When Avast creates this database, how large in kb...estamate? Amount of time to create this DB?

Is it better to combine with the Advast Scanner on the task bar? I try to stay away from too many things running in the background.

Thanks

VRDB is a very important part of avast!.
Its size is something from 3-5 MB. In this database are stored "DNA" samples of all files,so if they are infected, they can be easily repaired to its original state. VRDB generating takes somehere around 15-30min,depending on your disk size and filenumber count.

avast! uses very little memory,so don't worry about running too much processes of avast!.

Thanks for the reply.

Any setup options that I should be aware of as a nube? Any recommendations from an experienced user are welcome.

Thanks
