Malcreants will seek more intelligent methods to spread malware to infest users, according to Google's Postini in her annual report.
The attacks will be combined with spam and social engineering and be aimed at stealing personal data in order to commit identity theft.
To be more successful attackers will choose known big events to launch their attacks, like the Olympics and Super bowl.
On the other hand Google expects more attacks to be directed towards managers and staff of firms,
whose intellectual property will be worth a lot of money on the black market.
Therefore more firms will get hacked and data will leak. This wil lead to more firms willing to change their email policies, e.g. removal of links in messages.
Google's main advice to firms is to further invest in encryption.
Users are also being warned, because Web 2.0 websites where one can place user content, like social website, blogs, and marketsites, will be a launching pad for identity theft.
Then there still remains some good news the amount of spam will diminish this year.
While spam mesage content is being forwarded as attachments, overall junk mail will increase.
