Are you using the beta or the last official release?
Can you check the folder <avast>\data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
Vlk explains how to create a dump file here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=22636.msg187340#msg187340 and here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=23283.msg193594#msg193594 ;)

Hi again,
I'm using official release of Avast!
I checked folder that you mentioned. There are a few files, but most of them (especially the newest) are empty (size: 0 kb).
I don't know where is the problem...

Or you can try a new installation from the scratch or you can follow the Vlk's dump generation routines. I know they're not that simple... but could help (are necessary) for troubleshooting.

The first link to dump generation (the "blue screen" dump) is not relevant here I think.
The second one (hangrep.exe), however, might help if invoked at the moment the error message is displayed.

I just created dump file (when the error was displayed) and upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming
I hope it help to solve the problem :-\ Waiting for your suggestions. Thanks in advance :)

GreGambler, could you please also send the file <avast>\data\avast4.ini to my email address?
Thanks
Vlk

yes, of course :D I've just send it to you.

Thanks for your help... we've fixed a possible issue according to your logs.
Would you be willing to install the latest beta version (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=33621.0) to check that the crash is gone?
Thanks!

I installed the lastest release (4.8.1167). So long, so good :D Works (and look) nice.
Thanks a lot for fixing problem!
