Title: Restore vs. Extract
Post by: Sindawe on March 28, 2008, 01:50:05 AM
Another question.

When I try to restore a file back to its original location on a network drive, the operation fails with an "Access denied" error.  However, when I extract that same file back to its original location, the operation succeeds w/out issue.

So my question is: Does the the ADNM somehow use one set of credentials for the restore operation, and another set for the extract operation?

Yes, the restore operation is performed from within the avast service that uses SYSTEM account while the extract operation is performed from the chest viewer that uses your current login account.

From the next release the restore operation will also try the "extract" if the "restore" fails (but only when accessing local chest).
