Hello,
avast 4.8 now also has spyware detection. But it seems to only scan files for spyware.
Adware-Spyware tracking cookies or registry keys / memory seem not to be scanned.
Maybe these features are somewhere hidden in avast 4.8, but I did not find them...
So am I right that I still need Superantispyware to get a really complete scan (including registry and memory and cookies) of my system?

I use SAS all the time but only on demand. Not ever program will find everything. Scan once a week with SAS is a good idea.
-
I use ST and CBOClean on real time too.
I recomend you to use SA if you like it.
I know a lot of people use his AV(KAV, Nod 32...with Antispy detection) with AS programs(SA,ST,spyware doctor, webroot spysweeper...) on real time.

Yes, I also got the habbit to scan once a week with SuperAntispyware. I like this program a lot for it's simplicity and am happy with the free version, as I do not want any resident modules to stick around.

One of the reasons I don't use ST or AVG AS. They still leave back round services running even if your using them only on demand. When you close out SAS its closed. I use Avast 4.8 along with Comodo 3.0 w/HIPS. I stay well protected with this set up and never been infected in over 5 years. When I go to the dark side I use Sandboxie.

Something inside us knows when we're in the dark side ;D
I don't use AVGas anymore, but SpywareTerminator uses (load) only a driver, not services running in background.

It uses "spraiser" in the back round.

If you install ST thats the service it installs that is always running even if your only using it on demand.

Just set the service to manual and everything will work...

"spraiser" = sp_rsser.exe ;D

This is a SpywareTerminator process... but using ST doesn't mean you won't have troubles in the dark side...

Thats why I sandbox when I am on the dark side. ;D
