Hi :)
I've been trying to download Avast Free to get an idea of how the software feels/performs, but every time I download it I cannot install because Windows claims that the file is corrupted.
Is there a problem with the download? This seems to have been going on for quite some time now.
Thanks,
lr

Where are you downloading from ?
Are you using a download manager ?
I don't know what you mean that this has been going on for a long time ?
Yes over the years there will be people who experience a problem, but they are most certainly in the minority or the forums would be full of it, I have been on the forums for almost 4 years and I don't see this.
Are you trying,to download and install in one go, rather than save to HDD and install off-line ?

Downloading from the download link on the main site (I think this redirects to CNet).
Not using a download manager.
Saving to Desktop and then running seperately from there.
I've been having this problem for about a week or so.

Please try downloading directly from our site.

Ok, update:
A colleague has just downloaded the same file for me that I've previously been trying to download. I've tried installing that and everything worked fine.
I'm guessing that the original download I did was somehow corrupted and that this corrupted download was then cached by Windows XP and so it didn't actually properly download the new file.
Everything seems ok now - I'm guessing this was all PICNIC [1] :D
Thanks for the help :)

<snip>
Cnet can get very busy at times, so I don't know if that might have an effect, packet loss, etc.
Glad that you have it resolved now.
Welcome to the forums.
