Title: AVAST 4.8 Automatic Update viral basis
Post by: gg41 on April 08, 2008, 03:47:05 PM
Hello,
Since I made the software update to version 4.8, it would appear that the automatic update no longer works.
I must therefore to update the bottom viral manual (it is not very practical)
With version 4.7 operated normally.
I am running Windows Me
Firewall ZoneAlarm Free
Internet 8M with Livebox (Orange)
The settings of my various software remained the same with version 4.7
I would like to know if there is a solution to run the auto update.

Thanks in advance for your response

Please, post the last 200-250 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
Does the manual update work?

Some firewalls disable program's access to internet even if that is set as rule. This happens after program changes, such as after update.

You can remove existing rules for avast in your firewall, then start avast update (or restart Windows to trigger auto-update check). When firewall asks, allow avast.setup access to internet and create the rule again. If your firewall has option that allowed program changes often, set it too.
