Title: Keep getting Avast warning message
Post by: AlanOakes on April 10, 2008, 10:10:43 PM
I have just started getting the Avast! warning message every few minutes.  The pop-up says Avast!: INI File Modification.  It tells me the file causing the problem is:
C:\Program Files\Network Associates\VirusScan\Mcshield.exe
I appreciate this probably has something to do with the fact this computer is running more than one AV program, but is there anything I can do apart from get rid of any AV program that isn't Avast! ?

Cheers,
Alan

Are you using McAfee antivirus and avast at the same time... they will conflict.
Disable is not enough. Why do you think you're more protected this way?

This article provides the steps to remove SecurityCenter from your computer.

If you need, you can find many free versions of these registry cleaners here:

Sometimes, McAfee won't be completely removed if, before, you do not uninstall Avast, including the use of its "Uninstall Application" if necessary (www.avast.com/eng/faq-install-uninstall-avast.html).
