Title: Problem with email scanning
Post by: koechel_622 on March 24, 2004, 09:02:25 AM
avast! gives me three error messages when I start Windows 98SE. It is written something like: "avast! cannot scan incoming or outgoing mail, using POP3, SMTP or IMAP. Error number 10093."

What can I do to resolve the problem?

I use Thunderbird 0.5, but I can receive and write messages correctly. I'm connected with a DSL modem.

Best regards.

Do you use a firewall?
Is avast mail scanner allowed to connect the Internet (ashmaisv.exe)?

Did you run Mail Protection Wizard after installing avast! or, at least, before running Thunderbird?

I use ZoneAlarm, and ashmais.exe authorized to access to Internet.

I started and configured the Mail Protection Wizard.

I did use correctly avast! before, but I changed my modem configuration (ADSL modem), and now avast! don't scan my emails...??

Strange but let's think a little:
1. Does your email client are configurated to use your new connection?
2. Does avast! is set to use DSL and not dial-up for update (Update (Advanced) page of settings)?
3. Have you check for scan Inbound and Outbound email into the Internet Mail provider settings?
4. Can you post your email accounts configurations? (pop3, smtp, username, smtp authentication...). If you want you can use other examples for that information then the real ones.
