Title: Win32 Swen problem
Post by: AstronomerSmith on March 25, 2004, 05:53:49 AM
I had posted a week or so ago, asking for help with a Win32 Swen worm that Avast! found.  I was told to post a screen print, well, here it is.  The problem I have is that Avast! cannot delete or repair the files because they are password protected.  I am using Windows Me operating system on a Compaq computer.

Hi,

disable SYSTEM RESTORE & reboot, and they will be gone:

afterwards use the avast Cleaner (see main page) and then do a thorugh scan with uptodate avast

iF then All is Clean, reenable system restore

Thank you very much for the help.  I did as you said above, and everything seems to be normal once again.  The last scan I did with Avast! found nothing.  I'll go back and re-enable the system restore again now that it seems to be clean from the worm.

Thanks again,

Scott
