Why should I scan zip files?
These are my assumptions and please correct me. Here>>
If there is an infection inside a zip file, then the virus cant affect me as long as it is going to remain inside the zip.
Unless I extract it, the virus (if there is) in the zip file cant harm the system.
And, when I finally extract the zip archive at some point of time and accidentally access a virus infected file, wouldn't AVAST's resident shield protect me?
If that would be the case, then why scan archive files during the routine virus scans?
Eagerly looking for your response.

totally correct, but some people fell safer if they don't have even a "dormant" or inactive virus on their PC.
P.S: you can always disable archive scanning in avast'S main menu, or when you select the items to scan ;)

Dear Whocares
Thanks a lot for the reply. Yeah...I am aware of the option to choose not to scan archives.
