Title: Notification window won't go away
Post by: dixy on May 12, 2008, 03:46:07 PM
I noticed a rather annoying thing: when I start avast, to get simple user interface, the notification window  won't disappear even when I check the "don't show this window" box. How to get rid of this annoying thing?

Many regards!!

You can edit the avast4.ini file with notepad.
Find the [Simple] section in the avast4.ini file and create a new line under it and paste this into it ShowHelpCheckList=1. That will kill the help info, save the changes, the avast self-defence will have a whing about the changes answer yes to save it. You could of course disable the self-defence before the edit, but this is probably best as you won't forget to enable the self-defence again.

So after the edit the first part of the [Simple] section should look like this.
[Simple]
ShowHelpCheckList=1

You're welcome.

The avast beta trial has just ended and version 4.8.1195 has just been released, so you can do a manual program update and get ahead of the rush.
