Hi all,
After I updated avast to the latest version 1195, I got a problem that my SSM(System safety monitor) free edition can not startup .
Once I clicked on link of SSM, the OS is done, need restart. But my SSM can work well with all previous version of avast, ie 1169.
OS: windows xp sp2
avast: 4.8.1195
SSM Free Edition: latest version(853)
No other security software
Thanks & Best Regards

If there is a conflict can you clarify which version of SSM Free you have. I thought the latest version was 585.

My SSM's version is 583, the latest stable SSM Free version

problem still there after I updated SSM to version 585

You're right, I can confirm that there's a conflict between SSM and the latest avast version.
We're currently investigating the issue.
Thanks

I am experiencing what could be a similar problem, after updating to the latest Avast my system hangs at the welcome screen and will progress no further. I also have SSM 583, was puzzeled by the previous post, were you suggesting this conflict was resolved for the latest SSM or just making a statement that he wasn't using the latest?
I am running 583 as stated on XP SP2 MCE with Returnil on demend.
Any suggestions greatly received, system boots into safe mode ok, as SSM does not load there.

You can reinstall avast 4.8.1169, previous version. Then conflict will be eliminated.
I think the issue will be fixed in next version.

Thanks I have an ISR program on my boxes for just such problems and have rolled back to a config immediately prior to the update, hope they get it sorted, I quite like Avast.

It's not a good idea to downgrade... Anyway, I suggest an installation from the scratch:
1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Stay off-line (not connected to Internet)
6. Install again the old version: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
7. Boot.
8. Register avast (insert the registration key).
9. Uncheck the programs updates (set to manual).
10. Only then connect to Internet (go on-line).
11. Check and post the results.

I'm sorry, I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't explain. I was just making sure that reported conflict was also occurring with the latest version. We don't want the avast! team wasting their cleverness on solving a problem that may no longer occur with SSM 585 do we? ;D

Thank You. Have the latest ver. 585. Get BSOD When I click on "Process monitor" or "Preferences", other wise it is up and running. Any idea when it maybe fixed ?
