Title: RAMBack a nice add-on for the Firefox 3.0 RC1 browser!
Post by: polonus on May 21, 2008, 12:42:54 AM
Hi malware fighters,

RAMBack will cause Firefox to issue an internal notification to free up
memory that is otherwise held for performance purposes.
Additional items will be hooked into this notification in the future.
Install this add-on from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5972

Enjoy you users of FF 3.0 RC1,

polonus

And there was me thinking that Firefox was meant to be much better with memory use/leaking ???

They could do with that for 2.0 as it is the pits on memory control, although mine is only showing 77.9MB at present, but it can go much higher. I'm personally not to concerned as I have 1GB available to start with.

Hi DavidR,

I have the FF 3.0 RC1 which is much better memory wise as I have it as a portable apps installed. The memory handling is also depending on the particular kind of add-ons you have installed: ABP is notorious, NoScript should be mem conserving, but I am not too sure about that. You get a fair idea of what the Firefox executable is doing launching it in safe mode. At the moment I am quite satisfied with 3.0 RC1, everything flies, all my favourite add-ons installed, no sweat, and I am 14.000 updates further than the user of the FF 2.0.0.14 ......
