Title: 4.8 web scanner service terminated

I've looked through several posts but all i can find is fixes for older versions of avast. i'm running version 4.8 on Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and 2.0.0.14 and getting the following error:

The avast! Web Scanner service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 2 time(s).




i have terminated web shield, but i'm wondering if there is a fix for the problem.

Try repair avast by going Add and Remove Programs>> Avast>> Repair.

i still get the same error message. i have also tried removing the program and re-installing and i get the same error.

Have you tried uninstall avast with aswClear.exe (http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe)?

1.Download aswClear.exe on to your desktop.

2.Start Windows in Safe Mode

3.Open (execute) the uninstall utility

4.Click REMOVE

5.Restart your computer

Afetr finish uninstall then try reinstall back avast.
