Post by: wilaus8229 on June 06, 2008, 08:15:39 AM
Hi:
I ve just installed the free version Avast 4x home edition and then and then this message appeared telling me that the program was successfully installed and that i had to reboot my computer, so i click reboot now. The problem is that Windows starts, everything seems to be normal i can even move the mouse but it is like the computer is still processing something (the little arrow is like thinking) because i can not access to my programs, files etc. i wanted to uninstall the program but not even the start menu opens.

My operating system is Windows XP Pro and my computer is a Compaq pc Pentium four with 40 gb Hard drive and 512mb of ram

Can anybody help me! thanks.

Oh well I know whats your problem. Try reinstall avast by

1.Download aswclear.exe (http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe)

2.Boot in safe mode then uninstall avast with aswclear.exe

3.Reboot

4.Reinstall avast

5.Reboot

Do you have any other antivirus in this computer? Did you have in the past?
Which other security programs that could interfere?
