Title: No boot time scan option with Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Post by: dr_j on June 24, 2008, 05:06:03 AM
I'm running Vast 4.8 (Build: May2008 (4.8.1201)) on a Vista Ultimate 64-bit quad core; for some reason, when I bring up avast! and check out the menu option for scheduling a boot-time scan, it's grayed out. It also says that the VRDB was never done, and no scans have been performed.

I'm in the process of scanning now, but just to be safe, I'd really like to do a boot-time scan. Why would that option be grayed out?

Thanks!

Good questions deserve straightforward answers.

VRDB generation is a longstanding but decreasingly useful avast! feature which is not functional on any Vista versions.
Boot-time scan is not supported with either XP or Vista 64-bit OS. Hopefully to be included one day.... soon!

To get the Last Scan field updated, full HDD scan needs to be made. Please see here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=11290
