Title: avast finding itself as malware?
Post by: airscapes on June 24, 2008, 04:42:54 PM
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\moved\PartNo_0#1196757548

Found this as malware..
Told it no action at this time do not show me this again and the san terminated, but I do not think it was done.. I assume cause it prevented access to needed files for avast to work?

Background.
Ran the home addition from scheduler on my xp systeme last night and was greated by BSD.  So figured I would rerun the task.. was only 58% done and sortly after got the alert about the above file.

Had read about getting a list of all findings and being able to address the problem when done if I check don't show this againd and no action.

Going to rerun the scan if it will let me.. have a feeling it won't work properly now..
Any insite?
Thanks in advance
(note all updates current)

It's a moved file, not into Chest (protected).
So, if you scan on-demand, the file will still be detected. Send it to Chest.

Boot-time scan report file: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report\aswBoot.txt
Virus found will be logged here: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log

Ok, reran the scan from the scheduler and this time when the above file was found I told it to move to chest.  The scan was 60% done.  After clicking move to chest the window closed and the scan was gone..
What gives.. why would the scan end when the file is moved and the scan is not complet?

Something is killing avast... maybe a Bagle/Beagle infection or something like that.
Can you schedule a boot time scanning?
