In Norway serveral newspapers has started to use .ece filetypes instead of .html for web-pages (even though the content still is HTML-code). And most virus-scanners doesn't have this in the default scan-type (only .html and .asp). Is this a new trend, and why?

Try these two newpapers:
http://www.nettavisen.no (this was the first one)
http://www.aftenposten.no (started this year)
On Nettavisen this info at the bottom gives som clue:
"Powered by Dell, Build with Oracle, Published with Escenic"
(http://www.escenic.no - maybe the .ece comes from here)

Lars, if you write the extension ECE on the 'open' and 'create/modified' files to scan in the Standard Shield, won't it work?
If I remember your first posts about ECE, nobody knows this extension at that time but Igor gave us the 'solution'.
Does it work for you?
Btw, becouse of your suggestion and the fact that ECE pages look like the HTML, I write this extension on my own list. Thanks. ;)

Yes, of course that works, but if .ece is a more common extension it should maybe come on the list together with .html and .asp. And (as someone said in a newsgroup), html documents can be called whatever you like, you need to look at the document type (inside the file) too...
