Title: Outlook vs. Internet Mail
Post by: ohrwashel on July 17, 2008, 04:18:01 PM
I use Outlook to access my Internet mail accounts, and I do not use Exchange.  Do I need to run both providers in Avast Home?  What does the Outlook provider do vs. the Internet mail provider.

Thanks, Mike

Welcome to the forum.
Internet Mail Providers is use for Outlook Express.
If you use only Outlook, then you don't need it.
Hope that answers your question.

I downloaded and installed Avast on my desktop today, and now I cannot access any of my e-mail - Comcast, Yahoo or G-mail.

Have I entered an incorrect setting?

Have I entered an incorrect setting?
Which is your operational system?
Which firewall do you use?
Are you using an email program or webmail?

WINXP Home
Windows
Webmail, I assume? I access through Comcast's home page, through Yahoo's e-mail sign in page, and through G-mail's sign in page. Comcast goes right back to the home page, and the others go right back to the sign in pages.

Interestingly, this forum looks identical in appearance to another forum I visit, and I cannot post on that forum because I get a message that "Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message." I never got that before.

I'm so confused!  ??? ;D

EDIT: In addition, I cannot log onto my Comcast home page. It just returns to the standard Comcast opening page.

You're using webmail and just Windows firewall...
Now, sorry, I have to ask about your browser? Isn't it who is blocking the login?

No need to be sorry!  ;D

I played around with the cookie settings in Explorer and that seemed to solve the problems. WHY I had to do that will always be a mystery..........

Thanks for the rapid replies! I really appreciate it! But it LOOKS like I'm OK Now.  :)

When ever you visit a website that requires signing in, you almost always need to
