Title: How do you know it is doing a scan of email in and out?
Post by: robinb on July 17, 2008, 05:59:09 PM
in AVG 8.0 free at the bottom it shows it has scanned emails
How do you know it is doing this in avast free.

Also if you are having a problem with webshield (so far I am not) how do you turn it off?

thanks

There will be an additional icon on the system tray whilst avast is scanning your email, see image.

The avast ' a ' icon will also rotate whilst scanning.

You can also open the on-access protection control (right click the avast 'a' icon, select On-Access Protection Control), click the Details... >> button and select the Internet Mail provider and you will see the changing details. You can also hover the mouse over that other icon I mentioned and it will show tooltips.

The same drill for the access to the Web Shield settings Pause/Terminate or right click the avast 'a' icon, select Pause Provider or Stop Provider and select which one.

To see if avast! is scanning emails, check one of these points:

1) Is the avast icon (the special one of email scanning) be shown in the system tray?

2) Is your email header with the lines X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS XXXXXX-X, XX/XX/2008), Inbound message and X-Antivirus-Status: Clean? (Right click the message, choose Properties and Details)

3) Are clean notes added at the bottom of the email? (Internet Mail provider settings)
