Post by: sultan_emerr on April 05, 2004, 05:13:38 PM
Both mine and my sons have avast on them, in the system tray when i hover the mouse his says he has 5 providers, 4 running and mine says 2 providers, 1 running .
Can you explain what that means and why we're different?   Thank you.

avast resident shield protection consists of 6 different providers:

1. internet mail
2. outlook/exchange
3. instant messaging
4. p2p shield
5. standard shield
6. script blocking (pro version only)

depending on your own needs...it can be customise to run the number of providers needed... ;)

try looking at avast help...it's really informative about all these providers.... :)
