That's the point, everything is so slow-w-w-w whenever you want to be safer and secure. That's the price to pay. :(

I gave up after several minutes, life is too short, they have updated the extension now they need to sort the servers or the extension is pointless.
-
David,
It took me a few minutes and I'm on HS internet access.
Dial-up could take a few hours.....
-
Theoretically it should take no longer as the scanning is on 'their' servers they visit and scan the link not downloaded to my system.
-
Maybe they're using dial up ??? ;D
-
That was going to be my next reply, you are reading my mind ;D

I just checked directly on their web site http://www.freedrweb.com/browser/mozilla+firefox/ (http://www.freedrweb.com/browser/mozilla+firefox/). There must be an error on Mozilla (compatible only to FF2.0) or their part, there is no update to FF3.0.1, that explains all!!! :-X
-
Why no avast! Link Checker ???
Maybe in 4.9 ??? 5.0 ???
-
Good idea. May be we should make the suggestion to AILWIL. Just scanned thoroughly my PC with today's Dr. Web Cure-it. Only found 3 FP, 2 of wich FP recognized by ST 4 months ago... :o
-
I tried before using it to scan and it freeze for about few minutes then it say that "Server Busy,Please Try Again Later" >:( that is what I hate it.
-
And some people say it is not worth it just as for virus detection... :'(

I don't think so

It may be FF 3.0.1 compliant, but it ain't working on my Vista sp1 pc!!! >:(
-
It may pass FF 3.0 compatibility validation, but here to it simply doesn't work, I can leave it for ages spinning its wheels but it never arrives at a decision on the link or you get the server busy.
-
As far as I can see 1.0.17 is just a hacked version of earlier releases very disappointing

Strange... it's working fine here with FF 3... ::)
-
It's working or appears to work (as in you can right click on a link and launch the scan), it is getting a result to the scan that isn't working, certainly not for me.

Tech, do you mean FF 3.0.1???

Yes...

Dr.Web anti-virus link checker is faster in Opera & is trouble free. I have gotten the "server is busy" once or twice.
Life in cyberspace is faster & better with Opera. ;D

Hi folks,
You can also run this service from a website, did you know? DrWeb online-check:

polonus

Yes, but it's not the link checker!! We want a quick and useful LINK CHECKER, only that, that's all Dr. Web people. ;)

The weird thing for me that page doesn't work for me either, as soon as I click in the box to paste the URL I get the navigation window come up expecting me to give a HDD location. I really am getting tired of chasing my tail with DrWeb.

David, this isn't for web links or URL, it's to scan files on line. I don't know if you can save target and then scan the file but at this point it's far too complicated!!! I give up! (as many of you and I) 8)
-
I know that, it is was about the suggestion offered by polonus that you quoted.

This one does: :)
http://online.us.drweb.com/?url=1 (http://online.us.drweb.com/?url=1)
The one you received from Damien does both. Default is file but on the bottom you can choose "Select URL"
-
Thanks Bob, that one works.
It is almost the same URL as one I normally use, online.drweb.com/?url=1, note: no .us, e.g online.us.drweb.com, so it looks like they changed it (I used to have it on speed dial so to speak) and that URL no longer works for me.

People... use the extension... it works...
