Title: Avast frozen

I can't get online with my main machine. I ran CCleaner, Adaware, annd now Avast. Avast has been "Testing operating memory and startup items..." for 2 hours. What's going on?
I'm running Avast 4.8 Home on a Vista machine.

Probably jammed up. Shut down the computer as kindly as you can.

I suggest you scan with DrWeb CureIT! (http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/) just to know if your computer is clean. After booting, like Frank said, does the problem occur again? i.e., can't you start avast?
