Title: Help with "Alerts" Please
Post by: LRM216 on July 30, 2008, 03:04:46 AM
I have installed Avast Home edition (free version) but I am not sure how I will be alerted should it find a virus.  ON the Program Settings - when I go to "Alerts" and type in my e-mail address/messenger address and try to test it I get an error screen that says it cannot be sent.  How can I fix this?  I can't find any info on it in the help section, other than it telling me to do what I have already done - just doesn't seem to work.  Thanks in advance.

Hi,

When a virus is found you will be alerted automatically on your desktop by Avast.
My understanding is that the Alert feature is if you want to sen the alert info elsewhere (email, printer, etc).

Hope this answers your request.

Thank you so much!  I feel like a jerk --I'm new at setting this up and using it.
