Title: VIPRE vs. Avast 5
Post by: jimb11 on August 06, 2008, 05:10:52 PM
I just saw sunbelt's new VIPRE and was very impressed. I was just wondering if avast 5 will be adding heuristic and behavioral scanning in their program?

Something is promised in that way...
Something is already there with generic signature detection...

The good news is that Counterspy is completely re-written
Second rewrite since the license from Giant Anti-spyware expired and joint agreement with MS expired

Bad news is that Counterspy bailed on W98-ME support leaving millions of computers unprotected.

Has anyone seen any tests on Vipres AV detection rate?
I see that sunbelt is on Virus total

IMHO separate apps is still the way to go

Counterspy without the AV is still available
15 day fully functional free trial- should be useful in cleaning an infected system and then continued real time protection.

It's not free. Avast is best. It's known! It's free! ;D
