Title: Getting Avast to ignore program with spyware
Post by: beachlife on August 08, 2008, 02:55:36 PM
Have always used AVG but have decided to try out avast.

I have a program called smartboard, which is a free program which does have aureate, which I think is regarded as spyware by Avast. However I want to keep this program on my system. How do I get Avast to ignore smartboard as an issue which needs to be deleted or dealt with.

You need to use the Exclusion lists:

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the 'a' blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button...

For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the 'a' blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button...

You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should 'exclude' that many files that let your system in danger.

Be used to avast forum speed.

No, it's not.
You need to add the full path of it, something like:
C:\Program Files\ etc etc \smartboard.exe

Well the speed of replies is certainly faster than AVG forum. If avast is as good I will be pleased that I have migrated from Avg to avast.

Have successfully done what you suggested and everything seems well.

The replies are not only fast but do not come with caustic comments like the AVG Mods like to inflict on you ::)

Totally agree about the remarks by mods. One of the reasons I have decided to use avast rather than avg.

Lol. Not that I approve of the methods either, but one or two of them are somewhat knowledgeable. AVG themselves do look around the forum and in one case personally looked into my issue and resolved it.

However, this forum and avast! is far better.
