It was in Raleigh I first saw the thing that later was called the INTERNET and used the OS/2 Warp browser to access it.

u know its a bit weird the thing that ppl found a way to communicate from huge distances...we are so far and we feel so close..a guy tells me that hes from england...b4 internet it sounded really distant...now it sounds just a bit far from my home :P

Well this might get cleansed as being utterly off-topic by nature and intentionally so, but it is also true that all our flags were removed from under our avatars in the forum. A fact that Pavel has to admit.
So nobody really knows now where all these people/posters hang out now. My flag is red white and blue,
that is the Dutch flag, I am a citizen of the Netherlands, a EU country.
My wife has a flag that is white and red, and that is the flag of Poland also a EU country, so
we as a pair both are citizens of Eurolandia,
Where are our flags??????

I'm originally from Maine but live in Virginia. Several months ago I went to Denny's for breakfast & sat at the counter. A few minutes later a man sat down in the seat next to me. A while later a waitress came to take our orders. We were strangers to each other, but soon discovered we were all from Maine.
What are the odds that three Maine-iacs would meet together in Virginia, two setting next to each other with the third taking our food orders?
BTW, Tammy was the best waitress that Denny's had, unfortunately she moved back to Maine. It's no surprise she was the best watress....She's from Maine! ;)

OK, I put another pin on the map, not exactly accurate, but in the general area of where I live--north of Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by cornfields and cows.

The map used to have hundreds of pins - many avast users used to have their choice of flag ... a pity it is that some thought could not have been given to preserving these before there were changes to the forum software that have produced no immediately noticeable improvements.

You have made my day. I was afraid to mention the flags again, and was disappointed that so many people hadn't replaced their pins. I am glad to see the members in the USA are increasing. Where are all the pins from the UK and EU? I know a few have replaced them.
I am hoping we will get our flags back too.
I am from Maine also!!! Although originally from Massachusetts, I have lived in Maine since my husband retired 20 years ago, so I think of myself as a Mainer.

you see it is nice to see all the different flags from around the world and where each other live.we have people on this forum from around the globe that have come together by the INTERNET to help each other with the avast antivirus software and to be INTERNET friends.it doesn't matter here if our governments like the other country's or not we all are just people from around the globe that want to be friends and help each other as much as we can. i hope what i have said makes scents to you. :)

Hi guys, I am very new to this blog of sorts, and I assume that everyone here does indeed use the Avast protection. I am currently using the home edition and am curious about the profess. version. Does anyone use that one? and if so how is it different from the original home version? I gather from some of the comments posted here that it is not OK to post this type of comment here. Why not? I thought that this was a place to get to know everyone and find out about the problems that one might occur during internet use. Anyway, I am glad to be here and hope that if I need answers, this is the place to find them.

No not any more. My wife and one of my daughters will be there in about 3 weeks to visit her sisters.
It should take Alice about 5 minutes to get her southern drawl back once she and her sisters start gabbing. :)

I don't like the new member map since it is murder on dial-up, not to mention everyone posting huge images of their map pin ;D ;D
Even going into your Profile to edit your Forum Profile Information, starts of the bl**dy map display. Looks like I will have to see if I can block that with adblockplus.

mine's very fast as you can tell by my download and upload speeds-click on pic to enlarge ::)
but sometimes i forget of the least fortunate that have dial-up and such :)
it would help to put you jpg's and etc...in the additional options-attach files function

AdBlockPlus does work, I have blocked maps.google.com and when I open my profile, Forum Profile Information, the map no longer gets loaded.

It isn't their systems that aren't fast enough, but their internet connection (e.g. dial-up) that hampers browsing with media intense sites/pages ;D
