I don't have Microsoft Outlook, so I don't want the Outlook/Exchange Provider to be loaded everytime, how can I do it?

If you have the Professional Edition, you can do this easily by editing the resident task in the Enhanced User Interface.

For the Home Edition, unfortunately, there is currently no easy way to do it. What you can do is rename the file ahResOut.dll in the avast4 folder (to prevent it from loading), but be prepared that it will be eventually put back by every program update.

Also, you'll probably first need to kill all avast components as otherwise this file will be locked.

Hope this helps,
Vlk

You can also add following line to deftasks.xml to first occurence <task> tag (representing resident task settings):

<ResidentProviders>STANDARD;MAIL</ResidentProviders>

It will left only standard shield provider and mail provider enabled...

Mantra,

in PRO version start avast! in enhanced interface, right-click the task RESIDENT PROTECTION and select EDIT. Click PROVIDERS and in the right pane uncheck the provider you don´t wish to start.
