Title: GChrome is a security nightmare-indexing your financial accounts!
Post by: polonus on September 08, 2008, 11:45:44 PM
Hi malware fighters,

GChrome is just going one bridge too far, indexing all sort of information, also HTTPS protected information from financial websites, that can be requested easily from the search window/ Through keywords like account, date account numbers and other data can be found up. Everybody can test this logging in to their bank and look up the transactions in the search window: http://www.forensicfocus.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2863
Indexing in normal browser mode is just one bridge too far, where privacy is concerned, see:

If anyone's interested, Steve Gibson just did an episode of Security Now on all the problems with Chrome.

I have always admired Steve but he tends to be on the dramatic side.
I remember how he ragged on about EarthLink's Custom Browser Token and Open sockets but I can't find a reference to that now:

Google's Chrome is an Open Source application that has just been released and no one has stepped forward yet to develop an application on what is touted as an application platform that provides browsing capability.
