Title: Can't scan folders/files via Windows Explorer
Post by: user00999 on April 19, 2004, 07:04:54 AM
I've been using Avast home edition for just a week or so. Starting yesterday, Avast refuses to scan any folders or files I select via Windows Explorer (right-click). Whenever I attempt to, up comes this error:

     Program cannot create "Object" in "Storage"

Can't find any reference to this error, in Avast's help section, or by searching this forum. Please help! I had to reinstall one of your competitors, in order to restore file and folder scanning.

Most likely ODBC driver problem.

Please see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=3342;start=msg24155#msg24155 for a detailed discussion.

Thanks

Thank you, now that was a more courteous reply, than the other.

FYI, the URL you referred me to, was mostly about how Norton's utilities creates this conflict. I don't have ANY of that product installed, and never had. The answer was simply changing that line in Avast!4.ini

from

Database=ODBC

to

Database=XML

I didn't even have to reboot. And that's all she wrote.
