Title: Paths to ignore and email scanning..
Post by: CW on November 04, 2008, 02:08:50 AM
OK, the setup..

We use Thunderbird for our email, and the profiles and all other info is stored on the file server.

I want to remove that DIR from virus scanning, BUT I still want Avast scanning incoming/outgoing email.  Will adding that DIR to the exclusions effect my email scanning?

I think avast scans Thunderbird email traffic and not the files where it stores the messages. So, I think you can exclude that folder and still have your email scanned. To be sure, check if a X-Antivirus header is present in your messages.
