Title: How to update avast 4.8

when i click iavs button nothing happens no window no progress bar or anything? i also tried going into program settings and the update basic and click the update now link and still nothing happens?? why does this happen is this normal?? what could be causing this?

i am using windows xp sp3

i tried downloading the manual update but when i run it it says

Hi....

While I don't know the problem specifically, you can try performing a repair installation and then try manually updating avast. Just go to the Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Programs," and then avast. When the menu options appear on the left (in the window that appears after clicking on avast,) scroll down to the, I believe, last option, "Repair." :)

If you are unable to update after performing the repair, you can try uninstalling avast with this tool...

Then download and reinstall avast from scratch...

If you didn't save your registration key (e-mail,) you can apply for a new one here...

thanks a lot i guess reinstallation worked! it was good to see to see it finally updating T_T!!
