Title: Help, Avast has been killed!
Post by: spsheeley on December 03, 2008, 04:07:31 AM
My Widows partition is infected with Win32.Beagle AAW. I know this from my Linux install. I cannot get rid of it no matter what I try, and it has killed Avast for Windows. (I get an error saying avast is not a valid win32 program) I have tried removing it from Linux, but it puts its self back when ever Windows boots up. I know there is a system registry entry for srosa, and I have tried deleting it with both regedit and Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, but neither work. Regedit won't let me, and Offline NT Password & Registry Editor looks like it manages, but the entries always come back as soon as Windows boots. Maybe I'm missing something. I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can scan your Windows partition from Linux with avast! or AVG (installed) or Kaspersky online (runs in Firefox).

One of these should find the culprit.

Avast for Linux detects Win32.Beagle, and deletes it. But as soon as Windows has booted, it's back. I'll try the others.

I was able to finally get rid of everything with the help of Kaspersky. Thank you.
