Title: Internet browsing,security issues.
Post by: cod head on December 05, 2008, 12:04:06 PM
I know you lot are all knowing and wise. ;).But being relatively new to computers, only had one for 6 months and my memory is about as bad as a computer full of viruses.I have been looking at I.E.7.pro.What I want to know, not in terms of it can do a lot more things but on security issues alone is it way better than standard I.E.7.Is it easy to configure or am I going to get stuck with it.Also on my browser I have a  yahoo toolbar and a google toolbar. If my google toolbar has I.E.7.can I put Fire fox on my Yahoo toolbar.Would there be conflicts etc.And would it take up a lot more ram having both. :-\.

I have been looking at I.E.7.pro.
It won't mess your IE installation, its default setting will help (somehow), it's not a panaceia for sure.
You should think on using Firefox...

Neither IE and Firefox are incompatible, neither Google and Yahoo toolbars.
But I suggest Firefox and Google toolbar if you need to choose between then. Just my opinions...

Thank you for that tech. You put that in a way in wich I understood quite easily.I allways get decent answers here.Thats why I keep coming. ;D ;D.I have just been and put fire fox on my yahoo toolbar and added no script, adblock, wot and Mcafee site advisor to it.All seems O.K.If I still am around in another 20yrs I might know half as much as you did 10yrs ago.

The fewer toolbars you use, the better your browser will work ... just my opinion.   :)

Hi CharleyO,

A lot of the functionality he wants of the mentioned tool-bars (that track him for sure while updating regularly), can be found within one add-on I like very much myself: PassiveRecon. You than have all this functionality within one click under tools in a drop down menu in Firefox. PassiveRecon can be installed from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/6196

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like adding more toolbars because it makes the viewing area smaller, and as with Google, I made the Google configurable page my home page which makes the toolbar unnecessary for me.  ;)
