Title: Which .exe file is the one doing the scan, AshQuick or AshAvast or ...?
Post by: dsubaykan on December 20, 2008, 03:08:31 AM
If you know for sure, I would really appreciate to reply, out of a dozen or so executable files, which one is the one that does the virus scanning.
Maybe AshQuick.exe and AshAvast.exe both are scanners either for different things or of varying strengths.
I am trying to set up WinXPHome to schedule regular scans and want to know what I get from which file.

Thanks

I presume that you are using Home version of Avast!.  There is a pretty old thread (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=3796), which would be a good place to start with.

Shortly,
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
will allow scheduling.
But the scanning is done by C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe
