Title: Virus scan changes windows password

The newly cloned hard drive wouldn't boot so I used a repair install to get Windows XP on it.  I logged on as my wife and started an Avast boot time scan on the system.  When it rebooted I tried to log in as my wife and the windows password was wrong?  I logged in as me and deleted her passsword and was again able to log in as her.  VERY WEIRD!!!!  Any ideas? 
Also why would a boot time scan find more virus after it just ran?  Can't it just catch them all?

Welcome to the forum.
Avast! only scans and only deletes items if you give it permission to do so.
It doesn't change or delete passwords.

The boot time scan is able to access files that the on demand scan can't because while the system
is running, these files are in use and blocked by your system.

Is this "password" the avast registration key (license key)?
If so, this is an antipiracy feature (you're copying/cloning your HDD...).
Run ashavast.exe from avast folder and add your key again.
