Title: Win32: Fasec [Trj]
Post by: Pimplik on January 04, 2009, 02:47:57 AM
I have the same problem as Jazhawk.  EXACT same really.. but
when I open up my browser, avast informs me that I am infected with Win32: Fasec [trj] and once I click delete twice, the browser opens but does not connect to the internet.  (I am on the main computer, I have the virus on my wireless laptop.  And yes I have 'Very strong' connection so that is not the problem.)

Since I have no internet on the laptop how should I get those programs you suggested?
Should I download them on this computer and use them through the network?

Please Help!

You would have to download on another system burn to CD or USB and transfer to the off-line system. I would suggest not using the network as there is a risk that it could infect other systems on the network and being isolated from it when trying to clean the infected system...

Edit: a CD would possibly be better to avoid any possibility of the USB stick getting infected and cross infecting the other system later.

Thank you for your advice, do you think it is the virus that is causing me to not connect to for example google?
Also should I run in Safemode or any precautions?

This is frequently redirecting google content, to try and take you to malicious sites.

SAS and MBAM are more efficient at removal when run from safe mode.
