Title: Are virus submissions via email and Virus Chest given different priority levels?

No, they are equally treated. There is however a difference in priority in which malware detection is added to the VPS. The more risk a malware presents for users the higher priority it gets to be added to the VPS.

Is is just as at the hospitals, if you only have pain in your fingers from typing things on this webboard, you will be treated with a lower priority than when you have serious injuries from e.g. a car accident. ;)

Indeed, I think submissions from Chest has priority over email sent to virus (at) avast.com.
